CAMP CLARK WILLIAMSON - 50th Anniversary Celebration

The Board enjoyed hosting the 50th Anniversary Celebration on June 5 of this year. There was an estimated 250 to 300 people in attendance throughout the day. Activities included Presbyterial Day Camp where there were over 40 future campers attending and their parents, and an off-road 5-K run of which Tom Orr was the winner.

The first BBQ Cook-off competition was held and it was so much fun another one will soon be planned. Double Springs CP was the Grand Champion. The winners of individual categories were: Pulled Meat:  1st-Dyer CP, 2nd- Double Springs CP, 3rd- North Union CP, Chicken:  1st -Double Springs CP, 2nd- Morning Sun CP, 3rd- Jackson First CP and Ribs: 1st Dyer CP, 2nd- Morning Sun CP, 3rd- Double Springs CP.
The Reunion of the Decades was not as well attended as hoped, but there were several former campers in attendance who enjoyed reuniting, and these groups participated in the worship time (as they used to do in camp.)

The Worship Service and Communion led by Rev. Bill Ivey (the first Camp Director on June 5, 1960) and Rev. Linda Glenn (who continues to be active in Presbyterial camping today) was very inspirational. Several former campers spoke about the meaning of Christian Outdoor Camping, in general, and Christian Outdoor Camping at Camp Clark Williamson specifically. Honors were given to churches participating in the Adopt-A-Cabin program, and a plaque was presented and will be hung in the dining hall honoring all the Camp Caretakers and Camp Administrators over the 50 years of the camp. The plaque reads,

CAMP CLARK WILLIAMSON SERVICE AWARD,  JUNE 5, 2010.

In recognizing Camp Clark Williamson's 50 years of camping ministry and for the dedication of their time, service, and leadership in the development and operation of the camp, this plaque is gratefully presented in honor and memory of those who have served Camp Clark Williamson in the roles of Caretaker or Administrator.
